Cox Plate winner El Segundo (pictured above) has confirmed his international rating with the same 123 ranking in the ANZ Classifications released.

His victory over Wonderful World and subsequent European Group One winner Haradasun in the 2007 Cox Plate earned him the highest rating for an individual performance during the season.

Champion three-year-old Weekend Hussler's efforts in two of his six Group One victories, the Newmarket Handicap and George Ryder Stakes, placed him on 122, the highest of his age group.

Crowd favourite Apache Cat was the third highest-rated horse on 121, a mark given to his winning performances in Group One sprints the TJ Smith Stakes and the Doomben 10,000.

Efficient's Melbourne Cup win gave him a rating of 120, the same as Haradasun earned for his victory in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.

"In the previous three years only Makybe Diva (124 in 2005-06) had achieved a rating higher than 120," ANZ classifications committee chairman Greg Carpenter said.

"Having three individual horses, El Segundo, Weekend Hussler and Apache Cat, rated above that mark this season underlines the growing reputation of Australian horses which has been further enhanced by the Group One win of Haradasun at Royal Ascot."

Three New Zealand horses - Seachange, Nom Du Jeu and C'est La Guerre - shared a ranking of 115 for their respective performances in the Telegraph Handicap, the AJC Australian Derby and New Zealand Derby.

In assessing the leading two-year-old performances of the season, the committee rated the Golden Slipper the strongest contest of the season with the winner Sebring rating 115 and runner-up Von Costa De Hero on 114.

AJC Champagne Stakes winner Samantha Miss headed the two-year-old fillies ratings on 107 ahead of Amelia's Dream and Golden Slipper placegetter Portillo, both on 106.

The listings are compiled by senior handicappers representing Australian and New Zealand racing authorities.

The performances of horses rated 115 and above are then confirmed by the World Thoroughbred Racehorse Rankings Committee (WTRR) representing senior handicappers from major racing nations across the world.
